Students assist at motor sport weekend

Six Harper Adams engineering students took on the role of ‘pit crew’ at a motor sport weekend recently.

They worked on the Bowler off road experience at the Goodwood Festival of Speed weekend, which this year welcomed more than 185,000 visitors.

The four day event is hailed as the largest motoring garden party in the world – bringing together ‘cars, stars and motorsport royalty’.

The students were from a mix of courses and of different ages, and were Glen Goodfellow, George Cooper, Will Copland, Alec Henderson, Peter Boocock and John Harford – who is currently on placement with Bowler, the market leader in the production of racing and high performance all-terrain vehicles.

Head of Off Road Vehicle Design, Dr Ianto Guy, said: “At Harper Adams we are extremely proud of our links with industry.

“By working at the Goodwood Festival of Speed weekend, the students are part of developing the relationship between Harper Adams and Bowler.

“We hope to build on this when we return to Goodwood next year.”
